We are happy to announce that Ukrainian artist Oleksandra Pryveda has received a 2013 Fellowship from Artist Trust.
Artist Trust is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2013 Irving and Yvonne Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement and 2013 Fellowships. Selected by independent panelists, these 18 awards total $137,500 in support to individual artists.
Artist Trust has been providing support to artists of Washington State through cash grants since the first Fellowships were awarded in 1988. Grants provide artists with a means to continue exploring their creative paths, and in so doing, enrich all of our lives.
The Irving and Yvonne Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement awards $10,000 to a Washington State female visual artist, age 60 or over, who has dedicated 25 or more years of her life to creating art. Created in 2001 through a generous gift to the Artist Trust Endowment by Irving and Yvonne Humber, the award recognizes creative excellence, professional accomplishment and dedication to the visual arts. This year 40 applications were received. It is an honor to recognize Norie Sato as the 2013 Twining Humber Award recipient.
Artist Trust Fellowships award Washington State artists of exceptional talent, demonstrated ability, professional achievement and continuing dedication to an artistic discipline. Fellowships are $7,500 cash awards given in two-year cycles: Music, Media, Literary and Craft Arts are awarded in even-numbered years; Emerging Fields & Cross-Disciplinary, Performing, Visual and Traditional & Folk Arts Fellowships are awarded in odd-numbered years. This year we are pleased to partner with ArtsWA to award two additional Traditional & Folk Arts Fellowships. 449 Fellowship applications from artists around the state were received.
